Open Courts for Summer Associates

The Court offers this program each summer as an opportunity for summer associates, law students and interns to get acquainted with our federal judges and law clerks, tour our courthouses, and observe courtroom proceedings.The programs in each location begins with a law clerk panel discussion followed by lunch with the judges, concluding with a tour of the courthouse. Participants may stay after the tour to observe courtroom proceedings, if any are scheduled.

Justice on the Prairie

Justice on the Prairie — 150 Years of the Federal District Court of Kansas is now available for purchase. This coffee-table book explores the rich history of the court, which came into existence in 1861 after the U.S. Congress admitted Kansas as a state. The book is written by Michael H. Hoeflich, the John H. and John M. Kane Distinguished Professor of Law at the University of Kansas.   Educational institutions may receive a free copy by contacting the clerk’s office in Kansas City at 913-735-2205.
